City 2000

View contemporary photography by top local photographers at one of Chicago's oldest and most recognisable landmarks, the Historic Water Tower. All of the work was taken in the year 2000 by a staff of eight full-time and dozens of contributing photographers, including Robert A Davis, Leah Missbach, Kevin Horan, Pulitzer Prize-winner John H White and Guggenheim award-winner Terry Evans. About 75 images are displayed, with about one-third changed every Friday. The images document everyday life in the third millennium in Chicago's 176 neighbourhoods.

Football: New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions

Ever hopeful of a pro football team to be proud of, New Orleans is ready for the opening of the season. So far, the usually hopeless Saints haven't embarrassed themselves in the pre-season games. It's entirely possible they could win in this contest with the not- highly-rated Lions. As ever, the Superdome games are fascinating as much for the characters in the stands as the plays on the fields. New this year are fans wearing giant aluminium whistles in saints colours and symbols.
